ESPAÑOL: una frase incorrectamente atribuida a Charles Darwin dicta que “Las especies que sobreviven no son las más fuertes, ni las más rápidas, ni las más inteligentes; sino aquellas que se adaptan mejor al cambio.” Nunca como ahora es relevante esa lapidaria cita.
Este árbol es prueba viviente de esa capacidad de cambiar de corteza, de renovarse con las estaciones para adaptarse con los tiempos. Casi parece dos seres en uno. Hermoso ejemplo para nosotros en estos convulsos momentos.
Que nuestro renacer como personas y sociedades sea brillante… adaptémonos para bien.

ENGLISH: a quote wrongly attributed to Charles Darwin states that “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.” The phrase is nowadays more relevant than ever.
This tree is living evidence of the capacity to adapt, changing its cortex and renewing with the seasons. It even resembles two different beings merged in one. A beautiful example to follow during these convulse times.
As individuals and societies, let´s adapt then… for the best.

ESPAÑOL: Casi lo puedes tocar. Las hojas muestran un aura mágica, un halo blanco. Casi puedes sentir su respiración. Casi podemos ver la luz convirtiéndose en savia y verdor. Una foto que sintetiza la respiración… y una respiración hecha hoja: ¡Hágase la luz! Y la luz se hizo… vida.
ENGLISH: You can almost touch it. The leaves show a white halo a magical gleam around them. You can almost feel its sigh. You can almost see the light becoming the blocks of life. A photo that is a synthesis… and a synthesis made breath: Let there be (green) light! And there was… life.

ESPAÑOL (ENGLISH BELOW): la hermosísima película “La Sociedad de los Poetas Muertos” (¡estrenada hace ya 30 años!) difundió el tremendo poder de los versos de Walt Whitman, autor de “Hojas de Hierba”, una de las joyas de la poesía norteamericana y universal. Estas fotos, las cuales tomé en mi propio barrio, aspiran a transmitir un poco de esa magia que transpira el poeta en sus eternos versos.
Comparto abajo material complementario para “refrescar” la película y la obra del inmortal Whitman. Por favor – te lo ruego – solo mira ese pequeño video…
El mundo entero reflejado en unas sencillas briznas de hierba… ¡yo te saludo, hermano, hermana, que nuestros versos sean sonoros!

ENGLISH (ESPAÑOL ARRIBA): the gorgeous movie “Dead Poets Society” (a 1989 hit: 30 years ago!) shared the power of Walt Whitman´s poetry, author of “Leaves of Grass”, one of the greatest american poetry works. These pictures, which I shot in my very neighborhood, intend to transmit a piece of the magic captured by those verses.

ESPAÑOL: tomé estas tristes fotos a principios de año. Las imagenes transmiten muchísimas sensaciones, pero fundamentalmente nos cargan de una inmensa empatía, compasión y misericordia para con el sufriente animal. La Humanidad puede desplegar niveles absurdos de crueldad e ignorancia. Es hora de reconsiderar nuestra relación con todo lo viviente. Todo animal es nuestro hermano, y la Tierra como un todo actúa casi cual Madre para con sus hijos. No al egoísmo. No a nuestro lado oscuro.

ENGLISH: I took these sad photographs recently. The images convey a bundle of feelings, including an immense empathy, true commiseration with the poor animal. As Humanity, our cruelty can reach absurd levels. Its time to reconsider our relationship with the entire biosphere. We are ignoring our brotherhood ties to all living things, and to the Earth as a whole. Say no to egotism. Say no to our dark side.
